Are you looking for a career that allows you to be creative, and has lots of opportunity?  If you answered yes, then you might want to consider a career in construction.  The construction industry has been growing over the last several years, and is suffering from a lack of qualified individuals.

A career in construction can be very rewarding, in a variety of ways.  Here are a few areas you might consider:

  • As technology advances and consumers want more environmental friendly buildings, there will be a higher demand for Solar Voltaic Installers. These workers install solar panels and are gaining popularity.
  • If you are looking to build with your hands, you might consider becoming a carpenter. Carpenters typically do the framing and finishing work on projects.
  • Do you like to drive and run equipment? Then perhaps becoming a construction equipment operator is for you.  There are dozens of heavy equipment that need talented operators.
  • A sheet metal worker is someone that will either fabricate or install different products that are made from thin sheets of metal, such as duct work.
  • A plumber, pipefitter, or steamfitter, must understand all there is to know about piping for water, gas, waste, and vent lines. A demanding, but popular job.
  • You will need some extra education if you want to become an electrician. They install, repair, and build electrical systems that control lighting, communication, and more.
  • If you want to be in the construction industry, but maybe are not keen on the physical labor, you might consider becoming an inspector. Construction and building inspectors examine and verify that everything is up to code.
  • One of the highest paid positions, and most demanded is an elevator installer or repairman.

If you are looking for a career in the construction industry, take your time to decide what is right for you.  Consider some of these options, or even talk with a construction recruiter – they can help you make a decision!
